Painting with Chalk

First off I apologize for my lack of blogging this week, last weekend was amazing, but jammed packed and so I have spent much of this week working and studying! Once my big exam is done at the end of this month I promise that I will be sharing many more photos and posts!

The Chalk Festival at the Mission in Santa Barbara this past weekend was absolutely FABULOUS! There were phenomenal artists, delicious food, and my favorite...live music! I was blown away by how people could create these masterpieces on pavement with chalk in only a matter of days. Their talent and dedication was inspiring.  I enjoyed seeing the community come together to support art and good old family fun!! Does you community have great summer events? If so make time and go to them! I am quite sure you will not regret it!

Start to my Favorite Season!

So this weekend marks the official start of summer! I hope that you all are as excited as I am! When I think of summer I immediately think of swimming, sundresses, watermelon, popsicles, sun-kissed skin, BBQ, cold iced tea, long days, and warm balmy nights.

Over the long weekend I have exciting plans including...

My sister's birthday dinner at one of my favorite restaurants

Hiking in the stunning hills of Montecito, CA

An Italian street painting festival at the beautiful Santa Barbara mission

Yoga at this studio

What are your fabulous weekend plans??

Hello lovely people I hope that you are all having a fabulous Friday and that you are ready for what I am sure will be a wonderful weekend.  I am down in Orange County this weekend seeing my boyfriend's family and spending time with college girlfriends. I am looking forward to relaxing by the pool, girl talk, delicious meals and stunning ocean views.

Just got this bag...I am OBSESSED! (It is currently on sale in anthro stores!)

Daytime Sequins

You know when you are out to brunch and you see those girls in sequins minidresses and it is incredibly apparent that they never made it home the night before? Well you never want to be one of those girls..but I was thinking night out clothes can be so fun, chic, and shiny and wouldn't it be great to be able to carry those trends into the daytime without looking trashy?? After searching the web a bit I came across these two women who completely ROCK daytime sequins.  They look fabulous and effortless all at once.  I am definitely taking notes from these ladies and trying out either a sequin mini skirt with a casual tee and pony, or a button down top with a sequin sweater or blazer.

My Amazing Mom!

I hope that you all had a lovely Mother's Day.  I unfortunately was not able to be with my mom this year, but I am so blessed to have her in my life.  She has been, and always will be, an amazing role model and no matter how old I get I will always be her little girl.  Over the years she has not only been a wonderful mother but also a fantastic friend!  I love you Mom!

Tips for Healthy Skin this Summer

This past weekend the weather was insanely beautiful in Santa Barbara.  I did however end up with a little sunburn.  I recently read an article that stated that frequent suncereen wearers are 23% more likely to burn than those who hardly ever use it?

Crazy right?! It's because the labeling on Sunscreen is misleading! Make sure that when you pick a sunscreen you pick ones that block both UVA and UVB rays. Also make sure that you reapply after going in the water since sunscreen isn't as "waterproof" as we are lead to believe.

I also learned a few fun facts: Did you know that drinking a cup coffee or tea can reduce the risk of nonmelanoma skin cancer by 5% and comsuming as little as 1 1/3 tablespoons of tomato paste a day can reduce sunburn by up to 33%? Definitely trying out the tomato paste idea! Also remember to wear a hat and/or sunglasses out on those sunny days!

Dreaming of Summer

I hope that everyone is having a lovely day! Can you believe that it is already May? Graduations are right around the corner and summer is on my mind.  Even though I am studying and working like a madwoman every once in a while I catch myself daydreaming about vacations that will be here before I know it. Have you all started planning summer trips yet? If not where do you dream of going?

"The Lucky One"

Last week my girlfriends and I went to see the movie "The Lucky One"...we saw the preview for it when we went to see "The Vow" in Feb and immediately decided to make the premiere a ladies movie night.  It was super cheesy and I was not very emotionally involved in the love story like I usually am in sappy movies.  I think I am more of a romantic comedy sort of girl, I love to laugh.  If you are a big Zac Efron fan I think you may want to go see it, but if not maybe wait until it is out on DVD. Then you can sit on your couch in pjs and watch it with a glass of wine and a bowl of ice cream.
