Ultra Glam High Tops

Discovered these gems today and fell in love! Aren't they absolutely fabulous! These with skinny jeans, a plain tee, and... my gold hoops would be just enough ghetto fab, but not over the top.  Keeping my fingers crossed that these go on sale! Michael Kors you have done it again!

Chicago At Christmas Time

The weekend after Thanksgiving Dan and I drove down to Chicago and as always it was a wonderful trip to the city! We went ice skating in Millennium Park and held hands the whole time (otherwise I would have for sure fallen down!), went to the German Christmas Festival downtown, and went and saw a phenomenal holiday light display at the Lincoln Park Zoo.  We also shopped along the magnificent mile and ate at a charming and cozy little Italian restaurant we stumbled upon over near Lincoln Park.  We ended our night there with a visit to Howl at the Moon, which is a dueling piano bar, definitely a must see! The city was stunning with the Christmas decorations and we left ready to be in full holiday spirit! Here are a few pics from our trip. Have a lovely evening!

VS Fashion Show

The annual Victoria's Secret fashion show airs this Tuesday, I won't be able to watch this year because of exams, but I did see a few shots from the show that I thought I would share with you all.  The costumes are guaranteed to amaze and they always have fantastic themes and fun performances.  A few of this year's themes were Circus, Toy story, and months of the year! Here are some of my favorite shots from the show! Any of you planning on watching this year?

Cozy

The past couple of weeks have been full of testing, studying, and daydreaming.  Thanksgiving break has FINALLY arrived and I am thinking I will spend the majority of it wearing this amazingly soft jacket which is perfect for cuddly cozy days in.  I am looking forward to all of the cooking tomorrow and excited for my trip to Chicago on Friday.  Have a wonderful Wednesday evening!

Fishnet Tights

What do you all think about fishnet tights? For the longest time I associated them with less than modest halloween costumes, but I am now seeing more and more women in magazines wearing these and looking effortlessly chic.  I was in Chicago recently and saw girls wearing these tights with booties, dresses, and coats and everything about their look said classic and not trashy.  I am not sure if I am bold enough to try these out! What do you all think? Would you try this look? If so, what would you pair them with?

Have a lovely weekend!

Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies for Halloween

Halloween is rapidly approaching and time seems to be flying by, so last week I decided to slow down the pace a little and bake some pumpkin chocolate chip oatmeal cookies to savor the flavor of the season.  I found this recipe online and the cookies turned out fluffy, delicious, and in my opinion taste much better than candy!

Ingredients:
-1 cup butter, softened
-3/4 cup sugar
-3/4 cup packed brown sugar
-1 egg
-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-2 cups all purpose flour
-1 cup quick cooking oats
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-1 cup canned pumpkin
-1-1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

*I added a little extra oats, cinnamon, and chocolate chips! After all can't ever have enough chocolate!

Directions:
  • In a bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, oats, baking soda and cinnamon; stir into creamed mixture alternately with pumpkin. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 12-13 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool. Yield: 4 dozen.

Free Art Friday

This past weekend Dan and I were walking around in one of our favorite areas of town, the Third Ward, and we happened to stumble upon a work of art.  Dan saw it out of the corner of his eye as we were walking down the street.  I went and picked it up and on the back it said "Finders, Keepers! Enjoy, Share".  I visited the URL on the back of the drawing and it lead me to a facebook page full of creative people who have a passion for sharing art.  I love the idea of free art Friday in Milwaukee and I fully plan on joining in and leaving a piece of art from me somewhere around the city.  The drawing, by Dan Kirchen, is now in my living room and it makes me smile when I look at it :) Enjoy your Monday evening!

Military Coats for Fall

For fall it is tough to find the perfect jacket, you really want something to keep you warm enough, but nothing too thick especially for those balmy days before the rain.  I am basically obsessed with my military jacket and although they have been "in" for a while now I love the look and wear it with basically everything from boots and jeans to an LBD with maroon tights. I know that soon it will be too cold out here in the midwest to wear this as my "coat", but for all of you lucky Californians you could probably get away with wearing this until Thanksgiving.  Mine is Roxy and you can find it here, and below are a few other options I have found on the web.

Moving Forward

This week and the past few have been tough and sometimes with everything that dental school throws at me I am happy to just be keeping my head above water.  I am learning to take things one step at a time, not to be overwhelmed, and recognize my mistakes and learn from them.  Stress is a terrible feeling that can destroy productivity and I am slowly learning how to defeat it!

Regardless of the stresses and worries that you have in your life I hope that you can learn to take a step back, take some deep breaths, and believe that you can do whatever your heart desires.

Hello everyone! I am so happy that it is the weekend and I am thrilled to say I am planning on staying in to relax, watching a movie, and studying! This weekend the Milwaukee forecast is chilly (freezing! according to my California standards...) and rainy.  Perfect weekend for busting out my furry blanket.  Enjoy these fun links (found during my numerous study breaks!).

Free online yoga for those relaxing mornings in.

Way to wear a maxi skirt in Winter

Amazing website for home decor sales!

Wouldn't it be amazing to travel in autumn?

I have always thought that it would be incredibly romantic to vacation in Autumn.  The most popular time of the year to to go on trip is in the summer, but I would love to fly away somewhere in the fall when the colors are changing and the streets are filled with busy locals.  Have you ever vacationed in the fall? Where would you love to go?

Perfectly Cozy Jacket

For my birthday my mom and dad got me this amazingly soft jacket and I have been so excited for the weather to get chilly enough for me to wear it! It is from lululemon and sporty enough to wear after yoga, soft enough to wear while snuggled up for a movie, and fashionable enough to wear with jeans and boots! I don't really think you can beat that! I have it in black and online I saw that they also have it in "bordeaux drama", which is so in for fall!  And if that wasn't enough to have you convinced, it just went on sale.  So much of me wants to buy a second one....

Daydreaming

This week is supposed to be pretty chilly in Milwaukee and so every time I take a study break I seem to find myself daydreaming  about Santa Barbara...As you all know by now Santa Barbara is one of my favorite places in the world and I was able to visit there over my summer break and enjoy the most perfect day there! I spent time with my sister, friends, and Dan and did so many of the things that I enjoy most about that town in one day.  We ran on the beach, had tacos and drinks at Cielitos, and ended the day with Lucky's chocolate cake! Have a lovely rest of your weekend and plan to hear from me more after my midterms are done at the end of the week!

Elmo's Closet

Saw this video online and could not resist the urge to watch it.  I was a HUGE sesame street fan back in the day and this made me smile and warmed my heart! Elmo you are so in this season! Enjoy!

KA POW! (Comic Book Clothes)

Lately I have been spotting bold comic book prints all over celebs...what is this new trend??  "KA POW!"  This look keeps catching my eye and even though one could call it juvenile I actually really love it! Combine a KA POW sweater with black skinnies and bold pumps and you've got yourself a completely kick booty look!

You can find the 3.1 Philip Lim sweater here and another more relaxed and slightly less outrageous version by Markus Lupfer here...

I am still looking for a more reasonably priced version! Crossing my fingers that I run across one before the season is over!

First Weekend Of Autumn

This weekend marked the first official weekend of fall! How did you all celebrate? Dan and I enjoyed the cool crisp midwestern weather by making pumpkin pancakes, bringing out all of the fuzzy blankets, watching a movie, and also buying (and devouring) Halloween candy!  I am looking forward to the spicy candles, falling leaves, and hot apple cider.

Oh how times have changed...

How fun are these vintage playboy magazine covers! So much classier than the covers are today....  Love the girl's outfit in the middle bottom cover.  Feeling inspired for winter with the sweater, mittens, and fur hat (except in my case the sweater would not have knitted playboy bunnies...)

Hope you all are excited for the weekend! I know that I am!!!!

Play Ball!

This summer I have gone to four baseball games: one Giants game, one Angel game, and two Brewers games! There is just something about evening summer baseball games...everyone is in a good mood, the food is fantastic, and there is no guilt in having beer and handfuls of kettle corn.  Everyone go out to a game before the season is over!

My Favorite Part of Fashion Week!

This week as you well know is fashion week and as much as I LOVE dental school part of me thinks that it would be amazing to be in the world of fabulously dressed people! Instead I am in scrubs...but thanks to technology I can watch many of the shows from NYFW and see pictures from all the events right here from my desk in Milwaukee!

Not going to lie but my favorite part of following fashion week isn't seeing the actual shows, but instead the street style.  It just amazes me at the confidence that some of these women have.  I am going to post the looks that I would love to try to incorporate more into my look for fall.

After looking through pictures I am seeing a lot of oversized costume jewelry (especially necklaces), tribal prints, and faux fur coats! So excited about all of this! Have any of you been following fashion week? Seeing any looks that you love or do not love for fall??

Yesterday Birthday Day!

Yesterday was my birthday and it was the perfect evening. Dan took me to sushi which I have been having mad cravings for and as a plus it gave me an excuse to dress up and get out of my scrubs! I went with floral pants, a striped sweater, a statement necklace, and a ballerina bun.  When we got home we drank sparkling red wine (my favorite!) and had dark chocolate molten cake...what more could a girl possibly want?!

This weekend we will celebrate more and I love dragging my birthday out as long as possible so I am ecstatic about that!

Saw this cake and thought it was perfect...  Christian Louboutins and cheetah print yes please!

Dannijo

I am sure if any of you are fans of Man Repeller you know the jewelry line Dannijo very well! My love of shiny, colorful, oversized accessories has made me an admirer of their pieces.  Here are my FAVORITE necklaces that they are carrying for this season.  For now I will enjoy looking at them add them to the list of future purchases along with YSL pumps and Chanel bag.

Chestnut Street

Last time I was in San Francisco Dan and I spent a lovely afternoon walking around Chestnut St., it is such a hidden gem with boutiques, great cafes, and bakeries.  Next time that you are in the city stop by there and grab a bite to eat you won't regret it! Here are a few pics from our afternoon... I love the pastel victorians, girls in edgy and lovely urban apparel, and the retro look of the Presidio movie theatre.
